The RYA is delighted to announce that Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal will once again be hosting the Sail for Gold Ball.

Held on 4 July at the London Hilton on Park Lane, the Ball is a celebration and fundraiser held every four years for the sailors of the Olympic and Paralympic teams. It’s an opportunity for the sailing community to come together and send off the team in their quest for Olympic and Paralympic medal success.

Her Royal Highness is familiar with the pressures of elite sport having competed in Eventing at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

Sarah Treseder, RYA CEO, said: “We’re honoured that Her Royal Highness has once again agreed to host the Ball this summer. As RYA President, The Princess Royal is very committed to the work we do and this is a great experience and endorsement for all the sailors selected to represent Great Britain at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio.”

”The generosity of donors is once again simply wonderful, The wider yachting community have again given some truly amazing prizes for the auctions- we’re hopeful that these will raise a significant sum on the night,” commented Event Director, Julia Phillips.

On offer is an amazing trip on the luxury motor yacht Shemara in Bermuda during the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Qualifiers in 2017. Once again, Brian West, a talented sporting artist, has created an oil painting of all the sailors representing Great Britain in Rio.

For the keen sailors, an experience in Abu Dhabi on board a Volvo 60 followed by a two night luxury stay at the Jumeriah hotel at Etihad Towers is on offer. If you really want to get stuck in there is a chance to sail on board the GC32 Sail Portugal at the Extreme Sailing Series while also enjoying the full event hospitality package.
