The game of field polo originated in Persia and was played by the Persian Emperor Shapur II in 316AD when he was seven years old.
The modern game of field Polo is a fast paced sport played on horseback with opposing teams trying to score a goal against the other by striking a small wooden ball using a mallett into their opponents net.
This painting that I have called Polo … Propellant was as always about the speed and movement of the rider approaching the ball, but also I tried to capture the grace and prestige that is commonplace in this historic sport.
Acrylic on canvas.
